Minutes of the meeting of 9/13/17
Meeting Opened at: 6pm
Select Board Members Present: Steve Weisz, Chairperson, Carol Edelman and Kenneth Basler
Also in attendance:
The Board met with Beth Regulbuto, Superintendent of the Southern Berkshire Regional School District and members of the community to discuss the status and future of the Monterey School program.
- Ms. Regulbuto provided a background of her experience.
- Questions were raised about how the Monterey program was suspended in the first place and why it has yet to be reinstated. Some present felt that the kindergarten program should be removed from New Marlborough and put back in Monterey.
- Revisiting the regional agreement.
- Bus routes and keeping them under an hour.
- Improving communication with parents, member towns and select boards.
- Rotating school committee meeting locations to all member towns rather than just in Sheffield.
- Current enrollment numbers.
A motion was made and unanimously approved to adjourn the meeting at: 8:30pm
